The Resurrection Brings Gay Events App to iPhone - San Francisco Chronicle (press release)

Wsup Co. expands popular gay and lesbian event finder into location-based iPhone app "Wsup Now" -- free download available now through Easter.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 05, 2012

Just in time for Easter Weekend, Wsup Now is making it easier to fill your basket with the best gay and lesbian events available.

Wsup Co., the company behind WsupNow.com, today announced the release of the first comprehensive gay and lesbian event finder app for the iPhone.

Like the website, the Wsup Now app serves as a gay and lesbian event discovery tool, providing locals and tourists instant access to hundreds of LGBT-related events nearby, with just a tap.

"Easter Weekend is a surprisingly big weekend where the gay and lesbian community gets creative in how they celebrate," said Stuart Leung, founder of Wsup Now. "For example, this is the 33rd year of San Francisco's infamous Hunky Jesus Contest and the 13th annual Gay Easter Parade that rolls through the French Quarter in New Orleans.

"Easter provides the opportunity for a different spin on what you normally expect with gay events. It was also an opportunity for Wsup Now to announce our new iPhone app, to help our users discover local events and instantly feel as they've experienced completely unique."

The Wsup Now app gives its users a pulse on gay and lesbian parties, activities, happy hours, and cultural events in the top-five gay travel destinations: New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The app also covers Seattle with more cities being added in the coming months. Until then, there is an option to view a list of national events and parties outside of the current cities.

Key features in Wsup Now:
?    One-touch event discovery locates the user and displays the most relevant events organized by date, time and distance from your location
?    With Wsup Now, anyone can instantly be a local because it doesn't require a network of friends, word of mouth or a local magazine.
?    Event Photos Feature allows users to snap an event photo from within the app - a fun way to share where you are and a useful feature for both users and venue owners alike.

The Wsup Now app will reshape how gays and lesbians, whether they're a local or a tourist, discover events and parties nearby. Because the app is so easy-to-use and provides a much more convenient way to not only discover events, but to promote them, that Wsup Now is positioned to change the behavior of the LGBT community. Customer Jordan Lampenfeld exemplifies this trend:

"I've lived in San Francisco for four years," said Lampenfeld. "Between party posters, event flyers, bar websites, local rags, and word of mouth, the amount of information involved just to have a fun night out is too much to handle. For the first time I truly feel like a local."

Some well-known events happening in April that can be found on the Wsup Now app include The White Party in Palm Springs, the 1st Annual Boylesque Festival in New York, Anthem Dance Party (San Francisco), Dinah Shore Weekend (Las Vegas), and Miami Beach Gay Pride.

You'll also find unique, one-time parties such as the Justin Bieber Dubstep Party in San Francisco, Madonna's official CD release party at Mr. Black Los Angeles, "Bottom 40," a popular D.J. party in Seattle's Cuff Complex, Bearracuda Phurfest, a party for bears in Phoenix, and Chicago's "Hydrag Gleeks," a drag show based on the popular television show "Glee".

Availability and Pricing
Normally $1.99, the Wsup Now app is available to download free for a limited time. From Monday, April 2 through midnight on Sunday, April 8, 2012, the app will be free for download - giving you access to latest and greatest gay parties and events. 1. I have never attended any gay or lesbian event ever. Heard that one of event space San Francisco is going to arrange such an event soon. Well going to attend a music event that will be hosted next month. Excited to be a part of that event.
