If you’re anything like my wife, you may have about 125 app updates waiting on your iPhone (this drives me crazy, personally).  But what I want you to do is stop what you are doing, go to your iPhone app updates, and find the one that says “Facebookâ€.  How do I know you’ll see one?  Easy, because Facebook just released an update on Thursday.  But go there immediately and update.  Then come back to this post and let us know what you think.
What you won’t see on the new Facebook iPhone App
First thing is, you are not going to see a huge update from an aesthetics stand point.  The new Facebook app looks pretty much the same as the old Facebook app.  There are some differences however as I’m sure you’ll start noticing as you browse around.  But the update that Facebook just released on Thursday was not in response to people complaining about the way the Facebook iPhone app looked â€" the complaints have always been about how freakin’ slow it is.
What you WILL see (or experience) on the new Facebook iPhone App
Ok â€" browsing around brings me now to the most important thing you absolutely will see when you open up your new Facebook app and that is a much faster Facebook iPhone app!  That’s right folks.  Facebook decided it was time to stop frustrating users and investors, and rebuild their iPhone app so that it’s faster and more responsive.
And man… did they deliver.
You should immediately experience the new and improved speed of the Facebook iPhone app.  And what’s making it so fast, you ask?  Basically, Facebook’s previous iPhone app was built using HTML5, a code that is not designed to run on mobile devices but on regular computer screens.  And because the Facebook app was running on code that wasn’t intended for the iPhone, you suffered the consequences.
This time however, Facebook decided to rebuild the iPhone app from the ground up on the “software development system†of the iPhone â€" that means, the new Facebook iPhone app is now built using the same software that runs native on the iPhone already.
Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook on Thursday to make the announcement (read it here).  Side note… over 327,000 people have “Liked†that one status update â€" that’s sick!
