In his latest post, Benny mentions that he receives the same spam phone call every day. Therefore, he is curious as to why Apple have not integrated any method into the iPhone that allows users to block unwanted calls.
Being a man of workarounds, Benny showcases iBlacklist to his readers. The App allows users to set up a list of numbers that will be received as blocked calls. While it costs $12, it is the only call blocking App currently available that has positive reviews.
He also makes it clear that another option is to assign each unwanted caller a silent ringtone.
“You can also do the instant call-blocker by grabbing a silent ringtone and setting it as the ringtone for that number in your address book. You’ll have to add that number to your address book in the first place, but once you do, when that caller tries to get through you’ll be greeted with beautiful silence,†he says.
Benny also suggests that his readers consider adding their number to the Do Not Call Registry. While this will provide some protection, he makes it clear that numbers sold on by other companies will not fall under the registry’s remit.
Finally, concluding his latest blog post, Benny offers his readers a golden final tip.
“If your cell phone rings and you don’t know the number, search for the number on Google if you’re near a computer. Nine times out of ten, you’ll find a long list of reports that the number is from a telemarketer,†he says.
