After Apple and Samsung delivered a massive judicial dispute with still no end in sight, Apple will now use less Samsung technology for its own devices. On Friday, the Korea Economic Daily newspaper reported that memory chips from Hynix, Toshiba and Elpida will be used for the iPhone 5. Accordingly, Samsung has been completely eliminated as a supplier to Apple- at least for the first major delivery.
Whether Apple will completely abandon Samsung technology in the new iPhone 5, we will know for sure next week. After all, Apple will hold a keynote address in San Francisco on Sept. 12th to introduce the new iPhone 5 to the world.
A recent report by the British site The Telegraph, states that after the launch of the iPhone 5, the older iPhone 3GS will be dropped from the market. However, current owners of an iPhone 3GS will probably be able to use a stripped down version of iOS 6 on their smartphone. The entry level model will now be the iPhone 4 with 8 gigabytes of memory, which has already started in Germany.
In addition, well-informed sources state that Apple could bring out an 8-gigabyte version of the iPhone 4S this month. According to various reports, the new iPhone 5 will be available in three storage options to choose from and all will accept SIM cards in the new nano-SIM format.
