Although many of the digerati have dubbed Appleâs newest iPhone 5 as âboringâ or âunexcitingâ, nothing could be further from the truth, with this new iPhone clearly destined to smash all iRecords before it and emerge as the most popular iPhone yet.
With Apple having radically transformed the smartphone market ever since the introduction of the first iPhone in 2007, an iPhone that instapundits wrongly thought would never take off, each new iPhone has brought with it major excitement.
Each new iPhone has also brought with it major updates and improvements to better the iExperience for loyal users, and those users have rewarded Apple with stunning sales â" all of which were voluntary purchases made by people happy to spend their cash on Appleâs latest and greatest.
Although the current iPhone has the long-awaited larger screen, longer battery life, its fastest processor yet, the best graphics yet, the most advanced Siri ever, built-in free navigation at last, radically new headphones, the lightest weight ever, the thinnest profile ever, the most advanced mobile operating system, the biggest app library and literally tons more, somehow this has not impressed the blogerati/digerati/instapundits of the world.
Thankfully people are able to make their own decisions and do not hang off the words of bloggers who are quick to denounce whatever it is Apple has newly released, and this has seen pre-orders for the iPhone 5 go so far off the charts so quickly that, in the US at least, pre-orders are no longer being taken.
Despite ridiculous headlines claiming the iPhone is âboringâ, the people have clearly spoken, and the naysayers, as they have done several times during the iPhoneâs 5 year lifespan, will have to eat a mixture of crow and humble pie yet again.Even more amazing for Apple users is the fact that Apple does not abandon users of its older iPhone models.
Sure, the original iPhone from 2007, and the iPhone 3G from 2008 are no longer supported with new iOS versions, but the iPhone 3GS from 2009, the iPhone 4 from 2010 and the iPhone 4S from 2011 will all be getting the iOS 6.0 software update on the 19th of September this week â" on a global basis, at the same time!
Contrast this with Android models that might get one update months after Google releases its latest Android OS version, or Windows Phone 7 users who are denied upgrades to Windows Phone 8.
Letâs not even talk about Palm users who have been abandoned by HP, or BlackBerry users who canât be certain RIM will even be in business a year from now.
One thing that Apple has taught the world is that itâs the experience that matters, not the feature set.
While Samsung promotes its otherwise excellent Galaxy SIII feature set while having little control over the actual Android OS, Apple controls the hardware and software to deliver an experience that still stands head and shoulders over the competition, an experience that competitors attempt to out-do by stuffing as many features as possible into their handsets.
Apple focuses on quality, on usability, on ease-of-use, on consistency, on performance and on bringing new features in when it believes the time is right â" not because everyone else is doing it.
An example of this is the lack of NFC support in the iPhone 5 despite virtually all other competitors offering this feature.
Clearly, Apple has decided NFCâs time has not yet come, and given the fact the vast majority of credit card payment terminals out there do not have NFC capabilities, Appleâs decision was the right one for now â" with NFC presumably set to arrive with the future iPhone 6, in a world where NFC terminals have had another year to become vastly more widely installed around the planet.
While plenty of pundits out there proclaim to be âboredâ by what is obviously the fastest, slimmest, smallest and yet biggest iPhone yet, the iPhoneâs actual users â" real people like you and me â" are not so easily bored, and instead, are wildly excited by the amazingness that is the new iPhone 5.
The facts are simple and clear - the iPhone 5 is the very best and most exciting iPhone yet, with the actions of many consumers worldwide already proving they think this is the case, too â" and this is before the overwhelming majority of iPhone customers have even held one in their hands!
The iPhone 5âs actual retail availability in less than a week will then continue to tell the tale of immense consumer popularity, much to the dismay of those who believe otherwise.
However, it was ever thus, ever since the iPhone first appeared unto the world half a decade ago. They doubted then, and despite all that has happened, they still doubt now.
I guess humble pie must taste really good for the doubters to keep on eating so much of it.
Ah well - to each their own, and to each their phone, but when all is said and done, no prizes for guessing which phone has won â" won the hearts, minds and wallets of consumers, that is. Â
Hereâs to a stellar smartphone sales spectacular for all in Q4 2012, but Iâm sure that, for Apple at least, it will be anything but boring!
